While working the Teleprompter for a commercial starring Charles Barkley, I found myself standing less than five feet from one of my artistic heroes and one of the greatest American playwrights of all time, Sam Shepard.
Barkley told the crew that he met Sam in the hotel bar the night before, so Sam decided to drop by the set on the Paramount lot and see what Charles was up too.
It took all my professional experience to not turn and take a picture of them. All I can say about the profession of operating teleprompters is this, you never know who you’re going to run into from one job to the next.
I started out prompting for Charles Barkley and got to see a true American hero, at least in my eyes.
Can’t be beat.
